I promised myself that I’d get a tatoo this summer. I did just that! Of course I got not a real one, just a two-week dab of henna on my skin.

Last month, when my family and I went to galera, a cousin of mine got one of his design. Since then I’m immersed in thought of my own design. I don’t want a default one made by other artists. I wanted something original.

I did just that again. I’m always a fan of Spiderman so I was thinking of having one. Unfortunately, FrancisM beat me to it so I had to put my personal touch to it.

I crossed an Ichthus and a Spidey symbol. Thus, several days before our company outing I’ve had my 1st tatoo. I paid P250 so I would feel cool even if I’m not (sometimes we have to delude ourselves just to feel good.)
I even took a picture. Now you know how vain I am at times.

So during the outing, grinning ear-to-ear I paraded my shin tatoo. I was happy that i’m the only one with tatoo that time. Everything was going smoothly until a friend called me Joaquin Burdado. Teases started to trickle after that. But you know what cracked me up, someone asked, “ano yan, ipis?”

Saddly, this article is titled this way because now that the black ink is faded a red one is taking its place. Now I got an “ichthus-cross-spidey symbol=cockroach” tatoo made up of inflammed red skin. Apparently, yours truly is allergic to henna tatoo. I even have to buy topical medicine for this damn red tatoo.

PS. Until now nobody saw the tatoo’s hidden message.

However, at some point in my life, I realized that these dreams which I treasure would always remain one unless I chase it and try to catch it.

So I became dream catcher.  But dreams are still too elusive.  I do get glimpses of them from time to time. But everything remained nothing but bubbles.

Then, it dawned on me. Maybe these dreams are really meant to be just a dream. Maybe, these dreams are my unobtainables.

As I kept pondering on these things, I realized that maybe I was chasing the wrong dreams. Maybe there are others which will be different. Maybe there are those which would make an effort to chase the dreamer catcher as well.

When the dream catcher keeps falling, there is usually a very simple explanation. Those dreams are not yours to chase. But, undeniably, it is someone else’s reality.

Yes, reality bites you when you are down.

Dreams live forever. I do not.

Last friday, I saw from the news how uncivilized some UP students can become. Apparently, these esoteric activists threw eggs and mud to General Esperon. This happened in FC, just after addressing a forum the gentleman was invited to attend.

My observations:

• I guess there are some UP students who don’t know how to entertain visitors. Ganyan kaya ang turo sa kanila ng magulang nila? Asan ang breeding ng mga to?

• There are people who are always angry. Kulang kaya sila sa pagmamahal? sa atensyon? May ADHD?

• Some people do things for a reason, some just to create discord. Minsan wala namang katuturan, makadak-dak lang, hayun asa kalye… nagpapapansin.

• An Ideal remains an ideal, we don’t always get what we want. Tao lang po tayo, di tayo mga Diyos. If you can’t understand this, wake up, malamang kulang ka sa palo nung bata ka.

• If we are not part of the solution, we are a fucking problem. If these people will just use their strength for productive activities instead of sensless rallies and hunger strikes, they can help raise GDP.

• UP students shouldn’t just pick sides, we have to assess both. That way, we won’t talk nonesense and blindly follow distorted principle embraced by dingalings.

• Stop being so self-righteous. Mashado tayong malinis. Baka nga pati STFAP ng iba jan dinadaya pa e.

• Don’t over-react. It will spare you from looking stupid.

• It’s not good to point fingers based on assumptions – Justice 101.

• You just can’t trust personalities with questionable credibility. If they were named betrayers or traitors even once, their words are nothing but trash.

• Militancy doesn’t make you look cool. Madalas para lang silang insekto. Parang ipis ng makabagong lipunan.

Haay, why can’t people just get along.

…Damien Rice and James Blunt would replace Nickelback’s MP3 space

…Naruto’s bushin would make Takumi’s 86 eat dirt

…my PS2 gf would bore a child this soon
(now, I walk funny because of a full and heavy left pocket)

…after my friend Dash got toyed-with by this biatch, another friend of mine would suffer the same fate

…SOA would give an easy exam but would fail me for being such an ass

…I’d be too busy at work that I can’t horse around anymore

…a mouse would leisurely walk around my office drawers and make a Katamari living on Tang sachet packs, noodles, my precious chocolates, and edible leather bags

…I could give presentations to Gen. Senga, Gen. Esperon, Gen. Mayuga, and Gen. Reyes, have lunches with them, and be in their pictures… yes smiling

…a curve ball may not be a fantasy anymore

…I’d go on a movie date with 3 of my office titas, Kris, Claudine, and the casts.

Life really is full of surprises. Thanks God there’s always something wonderful to look forward to.

No wonder he's the magician.

Sometimes, it is really sad that some people abuse this power. They write poor researched garbage. They mislead, they trick people – purposely or unconsiously. They mix facts and fictions, they rewrite history.

I personally think that every reader has that duty to oneself to assess everything they read before accepting it. However, if an unaware gets flooded with garbage more frequently than his mind can handle, his version of the truth may be skewed permanently and unconsciously.

To this, who should be held responsible?

PS. If it's just ok to make a fiction out of general truth, I hope one Filipino writer make a danbrwn version of Rizal, Mabini, and Bonifacio's life. O kaya naman, a danbrwn version or Philippine history wherein we defeated the spaniards, japanese and american conquerors. Then make a movie and let kids of today watch it. Hopefully this is the answer to our patriotism problem.

PPS. I dare dannyboy to make a story of mohammd. Ewan ko lang kung mabuhay pa sha ng matiwasay.
